Town Hall Meeting to Discuss Mental Health in Rabun & Plans for the Future: May 7th at City Hall / 5:30 meet-and-greet / 6 p.m. meeting

Possible Mental Health Clinic location TBA later ~

I should be able to qualify the clinic as a National Health Service Corps (NHSC) site, and we are already a Health Professional Shortage Area (HPSA) — This means employed mental health professionals would qualify for the National Health Service Corps Loan Repayment Program & receive 50K every 2 years toward student debt! There may be additional funds via the State Loan Repayment Program (SLRP), but I haven’t figured that out yet…

The clinic will *hopefully* offer sliding fee schedule and accept insurance to ensure that no one who is unable to pay will be denied service because of finances (this is a requirement of a NHSC site) – shortages in costs hopefully to be covered by grants or charitable donations via a 501c3 non-profit model.

We plan for this to be a training site for mental health professionals – I will provide supervision for doctoral level clinicians pursuing licensure with the board of psychology, and Sunny Consiglio Volano will *hopefully* provide supervision for masters level clinicians pursuing LPC licensure.

Hopefully loan forgiveness & training opportunities will attract quality clinicians to the area!!****
