Rusty Bike Café

When the discussion turns to the best sit-down breakfast in Rabun County, there’s rarely a disagreement: The Rusty Bike Café is the perennial favorite. The stacks of pancakes, French Toast with praline syrup, egg burritos and cheese grits are all legendary.

But while breakfast is served all day, the Rusty Bike has a full lunch menu as well. Burgers, steaks, seafood, salads and sandwiches. There is something for everyone in the family.

Owner Joel Johnson takes pride in the Rusty Bike’s family-friend, all-American atmosphere. “We feel very blessed to have been placed here in Rabun County. A place that is often appropriately referred to as ‘God’s Country,’” he says. “We are fortunate enough to be busy from time to time on holiday weekends. So, even if the parking lot looks full, come on in anyway. We will always do our best to give you friendly service, tasty food and get you on your way!”

And the name? “I had often talked to my brother Jeff about wanting to open a restaurant here in Rabun County. Just off the top of his head he said ‘call it something catchy like… The Rusty Bike Cafe’ and the name just stuck,” Joel recalls. “I wanted The Rusty Bike to be a place where everyone felt welcome. Nothing fancy, just good food. We love when our customers come in and feel at home. And we love when visitors to the area come in and want to come back!”

The Rusty Bike Café also sells a complete line of shirts, hoodies and hats. “When you come back wearing your Rusty Bike attire, just ask and we’ll give you a small discount,” Joel promises. “Just our way of saying ‘thank you’ for sharing the love and giving us a little free advertising!”
