Over the years Osage Farms’ Produce Market has become a destination in our beautiful mountains. Nestled in the heart of the Rabun Gap Valley, Osage Farms is a family-owned vegetable and Fraser Fir Christmas tree farm.
The vegetable market is open every day May through October. The have seasonal fresh fruits and vegetables grown by Ricky and Clint James, 5th and 6th generation farmers. Ricky farmed with his Grandpa and planted his first cabbage patch at 11 years old. Clint couldn’t wait for his first chance to plow at age six.
A few of the vegetables grown are both heirloom and hybrid tomatoes, cabbage, green beans, peppers, potatoes and the sweetest corn you’ve ever tasted!
Be sure to visit them in May for their fresh strawberries.
Although exact timing is always subject to Mother Nature, Osage usually offers peaches starting in early June, blueberries, cabbage, squash and cucumbers in late June, okra, sweet corn and beats in early July and tomatoes in late July. Apples, winter squash, greens, potatoes and pumpkins are available starting in September.
As soon as the vegetable harvest ends Ricky, Clint and their families begin to harvest Christmas trees at their Scaly Mountain farm, just nine miles away. On Scaly Mountain, Osage Farms operates a choose-and-cut Christmas tree farm. While back at the Rabun Gap location, the retail stand opens Thanksgiving Day with fresh-cut Fraser Fir trees and wreaths.
So for the freshest summertime vegetables and best holiday trees and wreaths, visit Osage Farms. Again, they’re open every day, May through October from 9am to 6pm including Holidays and Sundays.
