Chick-fil-A, Clayton

Thanks to its ubiquitous cows and colorful founder Truett Cathy, Chick-fil-A is a beloved institution in the Southeast. No more so than in Rabun County where the Clayton location owned and operated by Jay Couey serves delicious food and hometown charm in equal measures.

“We’re a franchise,” Jay says. “But we operate as a local small business and take great pride of where we are and the community we serve.”

The Clayton Chick-fil-A serves more than just chicken sandwiches and waffle fries. “Our job is to give each guest a great story to tell about their experience here,” Jay adds. “They may be having a tough day at work or school, but we want them to walk out of Chick-fil-A well-fed and feeling like they were treated with kindness. Our goal is to honor our brand through serving our customers, community, and team members with great food and remarkable experiences.”

The Chick-fil-A menu is constantly evolving with new choices added to the traditional favorites. Likewise, the Clayton restaurant is changing too. It has added a second drive-thru lane and converted some of its dining space to a catering operation.

In the fall, it will begin offering on-demand delivery service as well so customers can enjoy a Chick-fil-A lunch at their desk without leaving the office.

For Couey, who grew up in Dublin, Georgia and worked previously in Atlanta, the opportunity to own the Clayton Chick-fil-A is a dream come true. “Rabun County was always in our hearts and minds,” says Jay, a married father of three. “There’s no organization I’d rather be associated with nor any place I rather be.”
