The Open Door at Alley’s Ol’ Store

A landmark in beautiful Lakemont, The Open Door at Alley’s Ol’ Store oozes charm and authenticity. Built in 1925, the historic building served as the town’s general store, community center and post office for most of the 20th Century. Renovated in 2008, it now houses The Open Door featuring delicious soups, sandwiches, salads and desserts plus great wines and beer.

The pretty green storefront opens into a small friendly cafe with counter seating and tables. Outside dining is available on the front porch and on a large covered patio. There’s a boutique upstairs and groceries and convenience items available in the back.

The Open Door’s menu includes a wide assortment of hot and cold sandwiches, salad plates and sodas, teas and juices. Signature Specials include a delicious Mac n’ Cheese/Bacon Sandwich, Gazpacho, Almond Cake, and Tomlin’s BBQ. You can place your order and then browse the gift shop while you wait. Or call ahead for pick-up or delivery. They offer weekend delivery of large orders to your home from 11am-3pm.

If you’re planning a picnic or other gathering, The Open Door has pimento cheese, chicken salad, tuna salad or egg salad in quantities to go, as well as a weekend sandwich special. Be sure to check out their freezer for homemade frozen to-go casseroles and sides or selections from Kitchen by Dana.

And don’t forget — The Open Door always has cold beverages, bottled wines, grocery items, ice, bait and cigars. It’s no wonder they earn 5-star ratings on TripAdvisor and Yelp! The Open Door at Alley’s Ol’ Store is one-of-a-kind.
