HALLCO Community Credit Union Kicks Off New Year with a New Name
50-Year-Old Northeast Georgia Financial Institution Rebrands as MyGeorgia Credit Union
Following 2020 Merger with Habersham Federal Credit Union
Gainesville, Ga., January 28, 2021 – Marking the start of its 50th year of serving the financial needs of its North Georgia members, HALLCO Community Credit Union is being rebranded as MyGeorgia Credit Union.
“Our communities are solidly based in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains and just as we consider ourselves part of our communities — our members consider themselves to be a connected part of the credit union,” shared Lorie McGovern, Executive Vice President for the financial institution. “That is because we deal with each member individually in a friendly, personable way. It is natural for members to say this is ‘my’ credit union, and in turn, future generations will say the same.“
Leading the rebrand – which includes a newly debuted logo and brand image – are the graphic design and digital marketing teams at Metro Atlanta’s Woodall Creative Group.
“This reveal has been a long time in the making and we’re truly excited about all the possibilities it represents for our members,” said Joe Foster, President and CEO of HALLCO Community Credit Union – now MyGeorgia Credit Union. “We’re starting a new year with a new name and a new look, but our members can expect the same great service they’ve come to know and love over the last 50 years. While a lot may be changing – including the number of branches we’re now able to offer and wider variety of communities we’re now able to serve – our legacy of providing a member-first customer service experience will always stay the same. Founded in 1971, HALLCO Community Credit Union evolved into a full-service financial institution offering a broad range of banking products and services with branch locations in Gainesville, Oakwood, Flowery Branch and Cleveland. Its 2020 merger with Habersham Federal Credit Union led to further growth and capacity of services, expanding its branch locations to Homer, Clayton and Clarkesville.
Unlike a traditional bank, MyGeorgia is a not-for-profit organization owned by its members and directed by a voluntary board of directors that establishes and reviews policy. The Directors are credit union members who are elected by the membership and serve without pay. MyGeorgia Credit Union offers the utmost in security to its members. Accounts are insured up to $250,000 through the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA), a U. S. government agency.
MyGeorgia is proud to serve the banking needs of more than 17,000 members within an eight-county district of North Georgia. As a “community-chartered” credit union, membership at MyGeorgia Credit Union is available to individuals who live or work in Dawson, Hall, Jackson, Lumpkin, White, Banks, Habersham, and Rabun Counties.
